Bay City principal uses Facebook to keep an eye on students

This week, one of my eduation stories started to pick up national attention.

The principal of the local Catholic school is using Facebook to not only promote the school, but also use it to monitor student activity. Reaction has been pretty positive, according to school officials, but it's drawn some interesting comment from readers - some calling him a Big Brother figure - and saying his social networking is inappropriate.

Good Morning America is coming to town Thursday to film the principal and talk about the story.

Our online strategy calls for reporters to blog about stories as they develop, with a goal of increasing reader interaction and commentary. Here's the story from beginning to today:
